Baobab Powder FAQs | KAIBAE Skip to main content

The Baobab tree, also known as the African Tree of Life produces fruit pods with a nutrient rich fruit powder. Baobab powder is a super fiber that is rich in prebiotic fiber, polyphenols, vitamin C, and essential nutrients calcium, magnesium and potassium. Baobab powder is naturally sweet and tangy and supports gut health for energy, immunity and glowing skin.

Unlike many other superfoods and supplements, Baobab is completely delicious! It has asweet, citrussy taste- and is often described as a tangy sherbet.

The Baobab fruit naturally dehydrates in its own husk, then the contents of the fruit pod are removed and then milled and sieved to produce the fine baobab powder.

Research shows that improving gut microbiome balance with prebiotic fiber and polyphenols found in Baobab supports skin health from within. Baobab is also rich in vitamin C which supports collagen strength.

Baobab is an excellent superfood for children. It tastes mildly sweet and tangy and can be added to water, smoothies, yogurt, baked goods, popsicles and more. Baobab is good for gut, immune and skin health.

Baobab powder and Acai are both considered superfoods, but baobab appears to have some nutritional advantages over acai:

  1. Baobab powder has a significantly higher antioxidant content than acai. The ORAC value for baobab powder is 140,000, 36% higher than Acai powder which is 102,700.
  2. Baobab powder is uniquely rich in vitamin C, more than kiwi, strawberry, orange or grapefruit. Acai contains little vitamin C.
  3. Baobab powder is approximately 48% fiber by weight,  two-thirds is prebiotic soluble fiber while acai has very little fiber.
  4. Baobab powder is an excellent plant-based source of calcium.
  5. Baobab powder contains 6 times more potassium than bananas, which are often recommended for their potassium content. Acai berries contain only a small amount of potassium.
  • Baobab contains more vitamin C than oranges, which helps reduce oxidative damage to muscles during intense exercise and supports recovery. This high vitamin C level supports muscle strength, and balances cortisol levels that can cause muscle breakdown.
  • Baobab is an excellent source of potassium, magnesium, and calcium. These minerals are essential for muscle function, energy metabolism, and maintaining bone density - all important factors for athletic performance.
  • Baobab's high potassium content can help compensate for mineral loss due to sweating during endurance activities and aid in rehydration.
  • Baobab's prebiotic qualities benefit digestive health which is important for athletes before, during and after training.

70% of your immune system is in the gut. Baobab powder is rich in prebiotic fiber, polyphenols and vitamin C to support gut microbiome balance essential for a strong immune system.

The high potassium content can help compensate for mineral loss due to sweating during endurance activities and aid in rehydration.

Baobab powder's anti-inflammatory compounds can help reduce redness and swelling associated with acne. The high antioxidant content in baobab helps combat free radicals and potentially reduces inflammation related to acne. Baobab is rich in vitamin C which can support skin health and collagen production.

Baobab powder can be used topically as a gentle exfoliant to help cleanse the skin without harsh chemicals or as a facial mask by adding water or organic Baobab oil.

Baobab is packed with plant compounds, including polyphenols, that protect cells from damage and help manage inflammation.
