My kids love baobab fruit powder. A quick and easy smoothy for breakfast and a yummy snack mixed with Greek yogurt. We have baked with it in brownies and cookies, which is surprisingly good. Better than that— it tastes good and it’s good for you!

Baobab trees grow wild throughout the African savanna and they produce an abundance of nutrient-rich fruit pods containing baobab fruit powder. These incredible trees, known locally as "The Tree of Life", survive in their harsh climates by storing water in their trunks and concentrating nutrients in their leaves and fruit.
At KAIBAE, we partner directly with communities in Ghana to sustainably harvest this baobab fruit and generate economic opportunities for them, bringing in the funds to build schools and create better access to clean water.

Our baobab is wild-harvested, and wild plants are different from farmed plants. Without the help of humans, they have to figure out how to survive on their own. Wild plants, especially those growing in harsh environments like baobab trees, develop a “wild intelligence” that causes them to condense nutrients in order to be resilient and survive. Wild plants also grow deep roots systems which allow them to take advantage of the beneficial bacteria and nutrients in the soil. Farmed plants don't develop such deep roots as there are few beneficial bacteria in the overused dirt. The good bacteria in the soil are not only essential for the health of the plants, but for the consumers of the plants as well. When wild plants are ingested these bacteria help balance the gut microbiome, which in turn supports the immune system and overall health of the animal or human.
